Indexing and archiving

The OPUS platform applies the FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable) principles of open science to the books and journals it produces. Books and journals are published in a format structured according to a standard that ensures their readability, durability and reusability: HTML for books, HTML and XML JATS for journal articles, and LaTeX source files where appropriate.

In order to facilitate their discovery via generic or disciplinary databases, and to reach as wide an audience as possible, the metadata of articles and books are optimized for referencing purposes; durable identifiers (DOI - digital object identifier) are systematically assigned. An ISBN (International Standard Book Number) is used for the various forms of books.

OPUS urges authors to use the ORCID identifier, which enables unambiguous identification and access to all works. Works published in OPUS will automatically appear in the ORCID pages of their authors.

Long-term access to articles and books published in OPUS is guaranteed through participation in the PKP Preservation Network (https://pkp.sfu.ca/pkp-pn/).
