Research data

The availability of research data underlying publications is a crucial issue for the openness of science, its reproducibility, and scientific integrity. OPUS recommends that all datasets associated with publications be deposited in open repositories (https://recherche.data.gouv.fr/en/, https://zenodo.org/, https://datadryad.org/stash/... - see also the recommendations of the Committee for Open Science, https://www.ouvrirlascience.fr/selectionner-un-entrepot-thematique-de-confiance-pour-la-diffusion-des-donnees-de-recherche-note-methodologique/). This deposit will be made under a CC0 license, with the use of perennial identifiers. Publications presenting results based on research data must systematically include a paragraph detailing data availability.

For academic journals, OPUS supports the definition and implementation of editorial policies promoting openness of research data.

Following the principle of open as far as possible, closed as far as necessary, the non-publication of data may, however, be justified on legal or ethical grounds, for example if it involves personal medical information.

The Open Science Committee makes available a reference document on opening up research data in the regulatory context: Guide d'application de la Loi pour une République numérique pour les données de la recherche, https://doi.org/10.52949/31/.
